The Academic Athletic Coach Profession & Grants

WHAT IS AN ACADEMIC ATHLETIC COACH?

An Academic Athletic Coach is a trusted, caring adult who helps student-athletes use sport as a pathway to success in school, life, and their futures beyond the game.

Academic Athletic Coaches serve as mentors, advocates, and culture-builders who set high expectations and help student-athletes strengthen their academics, leadership, resilience, belonging, and postsecondary readiness. The AthLife Foundation helps schools create and sustain these positions, train the professionals doing the work, and build a national community around student-athlete development.
